Food & Beverage Challenges

For many guests, dining is a highlight of their stay. Therefore, issues in this area should never be overlooked.

  • Substandard Food Quality: This includes food that is unpalatable, lacking freshness, served cold, or simply doesn’t match the presentation shown in promotional photos.

  • Limited Breakfast Variety: Common complaints involve a lack of options, slow replenishment during peak hours, or a failure to cater to guests with specific dietary requirements (such as vegetarian or gluten-free options).

  • Dining Area Hygiene: Guests are easily put off by stained tables or chairs, unclean cutlery and glassware, or—worst of all—the presence of pests in the dining area.

Systematic Problem Management: Understanding these challenges is only the first step. More importantly, hotels must implement a clear Guest Complaint Handling Process, such as the LEAR technique (Listen, Empathize, Apologize, Resolve). This empowers staff to transform an on-site crisis into an opportunity to win back the guest’s trust and leave a lasting positive impression.
