Why is a robust system essential?
Catering is far more than just selling a venue; it is the strategic management of “time and resources.” Without a dedicated coordinator and a centralized log—whether digital or manual—the following critical issues can arise:
-
Conflicts of Interest: This leads to double-booking rooms or poor placement, such as scheduling a high-energy, noisy party right next to a high-level executive meeting that requires absolute quiet.
-
Operational Failure: A lack of synchronization can cause the kitchen to prepare the wrong number of meals or lead to technical teams failing to set up audiovisual equipment in time for the event.
-
Loss of Revenue: When rooms are held “on-spec” or reserved without a firm commitment, the hotel loses the opportunity to sell that space to serious, paying clients, resulting in missed financial targets.
