EP.2: The Art of the Turnover
**Morning Briefing: 7:30 AM**
Each day begins with a team briefing. The supervisor communicates vital information:
* Number of check-outs (departures)
* Number of stay-overs (guests continuing their stay)
* Any early check-in requests
* Special guest notes or VIP arrivals
**The Room Cleaning Sequence**
- **Preparation:** The housekeeping cart must be fully stocked—linens, cleaning agents, amenities, and tools.
- **Priority Order:** Work often begins with check-out rooms to quickly restore inventory for arriving guests.
- **The Systematic Process:**
* Ventilate the room by opening windows or adjusting the AC.
* Remove all trash and used items.
* Strip the bed of all linens.
* Dust all surfaces from high to low.
* Clean the bathroom meticulously (sanitize shower, toilet, sink, polish mirrors).
* Make the bed with fresh, crisp linens.
* Replenish amenities and supplies.
* Vacuum carpets and clean floors.
* Conduct a final quality check from the guest’s perspective.
* Report the room as “clean and ready” in the system.
**The Craft of Presentation**
* **The Bed:** Sheets and duvets are taut; pillowcases and folded corners are precise.
* **The Bathroom:** Towels are neatly folded or arranged; amenities are perfectly aligned.
* **The Finishing Touches:** Lighting is checked, literature is straightened, and a sense of welcome is created.
**Seamless Communication**
* Constant radio contact with the Front Office.
* Immediate reporting of maintenance issues (placing a room “Out of Order”).
* Notifying the system the moment a room is ready for occupation.
In our final EP, we will explore **”The Path of Professional Growth and Future Evolution”** for this essential department.
