Communication Flow

By Charles Tan

Most mistakes in a hotel stem from a “miscommunication” or a breakdown in information sharing.

  • Daily Briefing (10-15 mins): Before every shift starts, hold a quick briefing to share vital information—such as VIP arrivals, guest allergies, and special events—so everyone is prepared and on the same page.

  • Cross-Department Synergy: Establish fast-response communication channels (like group chats or two-way radios) between the Front of House (Service) and Back of House (Kitchen). This ensures meal pacing is controlled and service remains seamless.

  • Handover Protocol: Ensure shift transitions are crystal clear. Any pending tasks or ongoing issues must be handed over 100% to the next team so nothing falls through the cracks.
