Guest Accommodation & Facility Challenges

By Charles Tan

This category represents the very foundation of what a guest expects. Issues in this area often have a significant negative impact on guest satisfaction scores and online reviews.

  • Substandard Cleanliness: Dust on furniture, stray hairs in the bathroom, stained bed sheets, or unpleasant odors like musty or smoky smells.

  • Malfunctioning or Broken Amenities: Air conditioning that is too loud or not cooling, a TV that won’t turn on, dim lighting, a toilet that won’t flush, or no hot water.

  • Disturbing Noise: Loud music or parties from neighboring rooms, slammed doors, construction noise from within the hotel, or heavy traffic noise from outside.

  • Uncomfortable Bedding: A mattress that is too soft or too hard, or pillows that are too flat or too high, directly resulting in a poor night’s sleep for the guest.

  • Unreliable Wi-Fi: Slow internet speeds, a weak signal, or constant disconnections—which is particularly devastating for guests traveling for business.
