This category represents the most critical set of challenges, as it directly impacts a guest’s fundamental right to their stay.
-
Overbooking (Occupancy Overflow): A high-stress situation where a guest arrives only to find no rooms available. This typically stems from technical glitches in the PMS (Property Management System) or aggressive sales strategies designed to offset potential “no-shows.”
-
Booking Not Found (The Missing Reservation): Occurs when a guest provides a confirmation, yet their name is nowhere to be found in the system. This is often caused by a communication breakdown between the hotel and Online Travel Agencies (OTAs), or simply a minor clerical error, such as a misspelled name during data entry.
-
Room Not Ready (Delayed Check-in): A common frustration where a guest arrives at the standard check-in time (e.g., 2:00 PM), but their room is still being prepared. This usually happens due to late check-outs from previous guests or staffing shortages in the Housekeeping department, leaving weary travelers waiting in the lobby.
